SUMMER GAMES INTERNSHIPS

Let the Summer Games Begin

For 10 weeks every summer, students from across the nation compete in a start-up accelerator to build the advanced technology that will shape our nation’s future, and their careers. We call it the Summer Games. The capstone pitch competition—where teams present their projects to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø senior leaders—decides who wins the coveted Summer Games Challenge Cup.

I’m interested in an internship with 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø. When should I connect about opportunities?

We begin considering students for our internship program in late August and through the fall. At that time, you can explore open internship positions on our .Ìý

What’s the difference between joining 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø as an intern or account intern versus being part of the Summer Games?

The Summer Games is a project-based, intensive, ten-week internship program that simulates a real-world startup accelerator. A Summer Games intern collaborates on a team guided by senior leaders. You and your cohort will have the freedom to develop and prototype ideas aimed at solving complex world problems.

In contrast, an account intern supports the wide-ranging needs of a specific team. The roles and responsibilities of an account are determined by the team to which the intern is aligned, and opportunities may vary each year.

Are 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø internships paid?

Generally, our interns are paid unless otherwise specified. Interns are not eligible for benefits but receive paid federal holidays.

Can I get academic credit for an internship with 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø?

It may be possible to get academic credit for your internship, but 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø can’t grant credit independently. Typically, credit is awarded by your university’s academic department and policies differ from one academic office to another.

While 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø doesn’t give academic credit for an internship, we’ll review and validate any documentation from your university that might allow you to obtain credit for a 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø internship. Note that our internships are paid, which can sometimes preclude a student from getting credit for an internship.ÌýÌý

Do you offer summer housing or temporary relocation assistance?

We do not offer summer housing or temporary relocation assistance.ÌýÌý

Where are your internships located?

Our internships are located at some of our 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø offices across the country, including the Washington, DC, metropolitan area; the West Coast; Southeast; Northeast; and more.

Do I need previous work experience?

While previous work experience is a plus, it’s not required for an internship with us. We review academic work, volunteering history, extracurricular activities, and other experiences that demonstrate the skills you’ll bring to the internship.

Are 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹Ù꿉۪s internships full time? What are the typical hours?

Our internships are full time, and interns typically work 40 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but your manager may determine specific hours.

Are internships only open to current college students?

Yes, internships are open to candidates who are currently enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. Students who are not currently enrolled in school or have already obtained a degree would be eligible for full-time positions, not internships.ÌýÌý
