One of my previous bosses had told me that there is no better day to plant a tree. Because he said that he looks out on his back porch and says, "You know, what'd look really nice over there?" "Is nice, mature line of (whatever) tree." And he says, "You know what I'm saying" 20 years later? The same thing." He said, "So if you don't start today you don't plant it today." "You're never going to have that mature line of trees." And that stuck. Hi I am Carter Cady and I am aa Lead Engineer in the commercial OT cyberscecurity practice. The FlexEd program I learned about it in orientation. I was an admin at the time, and I knew when I cam to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø, I alwats wanted to get my degree. So I decided to pursue further education with FlexEd, because it's there. It's use it or lose it. I started with five classes a year. I've been doing five classes a year for the last four years. I have my associate's. I have two undergraduate certificates. And I am two years away from my bachelor's degree. I wondered a long time while I was still an admin, Should I pivot? Should I change? And I did'nt have the courage to be frank. I just thought I missed the boat. But when I went back to school, networking is still networking, IPs are still IPs. We still haven't changed most of the methodology. It's just what's sitting on top of it. When I received my associate's I had to do an internship. And I called up one of the principals that I loved working with and said " Hey! Make me an intern!" and he said "We would love to make you an intern!" And in that process, the program managers and the project managers they turned around and presented me with an opportunity to transfer over to engineering. And I came over to the engineering side as a senior consultant. My experince with FlexEd has definitely "flexed: i'll say that. There's a lot of companies that don't do this. And I think what I love the most about why 91³Ô¹ÏÍø¹ÙÍø does it and what they do, is they are investing in their people. There is no beter day to plant a tree than today.
